Certificate of Recognition (Level 1)
The Certificate of Recognition affirms that the graduate student has attended at least five Center for Engaged Teaching and Learning workshops and has begun participation in the planning and delivery of the center’s workshops and new teaching assistant orientation.
Certificate of Instructional Training (Level 2)
The Certificate of Instructional Training certificate affirms that the graduate student has formally shared with colleagues a scholarly approach to teaching and learning through developing and leading two peer workshops.
Certificate of Teaching Accomplishment (Level 3)
The Certificate of Teaching Accomplishment affirms that the graduate student has observed, discussed and applied the best practices of effective teaching for learner-centered education through delivery of two additional workshops. It also represents an engagement with the scholarship of teaching and learning through the publication of an article in the center newsletter or in a scholarly journal.
Certificate of Proficiency in the Scholarship of Teaching and Learning (Level 4)
The Certificate of Proficiency in the Scholarship of Teaching and Learning affirms that the graduate student has produced an article related to his/her research on teaching and learning and has submitted his/her article to an academic journal or to the editorial board for UC Merced's Guidebook eScholarship site. It also represents the completion of a teaching portfolio that includes a teaching philosophy statement and a demonstration of progress of his/her research on teaching. Finally, the recipient of this certificate has successfully led a workshop related to his/her research on teaching or teaching portfolio.
