Faculty Seminar Series with Certificate

The Faculty Seminar Series with Certificate is open to all faculty (Senate and Non-Senate), postdoctoral scholars, and other instructional staff. Each year the series focuses on a particular theme. The theme for 2012-13 is Teaching with New Media. Participants will learn about new media, related tools, and best practices that can enrich any class or curriculum. To qualify for a certificate, participants are required to 1) attend one practicum workshop in July, August, December, or January; 2) attend 4 additional workshops during the academic year; and 3) submit a final project (see details below).

Substitution Credit

If you're interested in the certificate program but cannot attend some of the workshops, you can still get credit towards the certificate by participating in a Mobile App Learning Lounge (MALL) event, attending a Teaching and Technology workshop or webinar (or watch a recorded session), or watching a recorded Teaching with New Media Webinar, AND submitting a one-page reflection.  Reflection must be submitted within two weeks of the event. In other words, reflection must be from a workshop or webinar within the two past weeks.  Late submisions (reflection of an event beyond two weeks) will not be accepted. CROPS webinars cannot be used for credit. No more than two workshop substitution credits will be allowed.

Final Project Assignment

Besides attending a practicum session and four additional workshops, participants seeking the certificate will need to submit a final project, which could be an interactive workshop, an audio/video essay, or a multimedia poster.  Please be mindful of the two deadlines below. Late projects will NOT be accepted.  Please click here to download Final Project Assignment.  (Final Project Adobe Connect Room)

  • Project proposal submitted by February 1, 2013: If you're interested in pursuing a final project, please make your intentions clear by submitting a brief proposal via this online form.  Support might not be available to participants who do not meet this initial deadline.
